Follow path shown by Guru Teg Bahadur: Punjab Governor

Chandigarh, Nov 23 (UNI) Punjab Governor and Administrator of the Union Territory of, Chandigarh, Gen (retd) S F Rodrigues today called upon people to follow the high ideals of secularism, humanism and spirit of sacrifice, preached and practiced by the ninth Sikh Guru Teg Bahadur.

In his message on the eve of the 'Shaheedi Divas' (martyrdom day) of the Guru, the Governor said Guru Teg Bahadur laid down his life to protect the right of freedom of worship and for preserving human and secular values. He said that the Guru's supreme sacrifice was unique and unparalleled in the history of mankind and symbolised the truth of good over evil.

''The real homage to the great Guru would be to follow his message, in letter and spirit, and to re-dedicate ourselves to serve society, especially poor and downtrodden, with devotion and dedication, rising above considerations of caste, creed and religion,'' the Governor said in his message.
