Hyderabad, Nov 23 (UNI) All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Digvijay Singh today said the Congress was sensitive to the demand for separate Telangana and it was trying to evolve a consensus among the UPA allies on the issue.

Talking to reporters at the state Congress Party office 'Gandhi Bhavan' here, he said, ''We have clearly told Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhara Rao not to precipitate the Telangana issue until we reach a consensus.'' Initially he agreed, but retracted from his commitment and resigned from the UPA government, Mr Singh said.

He said the Congress would not support the Private Member's Bill on separate Telangana, which the BJP plans to introduce in Parliament.

The Congress government in the state had initiated a lot of developmental projects for Telangana, including implementation of lot of irrigation projects, Mr Singh said.
