Ahmedabad, Nov 23 (UNI) Arjun Modhwadia, leader of the Opposition in Gujarat Legislative Assembly, today flayed Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his ''insincerity'' in demanding death by hanging for Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru and pointed towards the ''spate of terror attacks during the BJP's regime''.

This is only a game plan to mislead the people, he said.

Mr Modhwadia, in a release issued here, condemned the ''double-standards of the BJP and its two leaders Mr Modi and Mr L K Advani''.

He said that when Mr Advani was the Home Minister, there were several terrorist attacks, including attacks on the Raghunath temple and in the Legislative Assembly of Kashmir, Parliament and the Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar.

''Mr Advani took just 14 days before surrendering to the militants' demands and releasing Azhar Masood and two others and paying a ransom of Rs 900 crore when the Indian Airlines plane was hijacked to Kandahar. Why did Mr Advani not straightaway shoot Azhar Masood,'' Mr Modhwadia asked.

Mr Modhwadia claimed that chief conspirator in killing Haren Pandya, Mufti Sufiyan was given a safe-passage to Pakistan from Gujarat when the NDA was in power.

''If Mr Modi and Mr Advani are so concerned about terrorism, their actions do not speak so...Mr Modi's mentor Mr Advani, while visiting Jinnah's tomb in Pakistan, described him as a nationalist,'' he said.
