Ato new Nagaland BJP President
Kohima, Nov 23 (UNI) Nagaland BJP general secretary Ato Yepthomi has been elected the new president of the state party unit at the party election meeting held at Dimapur yesterday.
Central observer Vijay Gupta announced the election of Mr Yepthomi in presence of party's state in-charge Rajiv Pratap Rudy and other senior leaders at a meeting in Dimapur yesterday.
Mr Yepthomi was the lone contestant for the post.
Johny G Rengma was also elected as the consensus candidate for the party's National Council Member in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Mr Rudy accused the Congress of being indifferent to the Northeastern states and for creating insecurity among the people of the region.
He also said despite 55 years of Congress rule at the Centre, the NE region still craved for infrastructure, roads, hospitals and industries.
Former party president M C Konayk urged the party workers to extend their support to the new incumbent and stressed on strengthening the party at the grassroots level.
