Aerobatic display aims at inspiring youth to join IAF

Itanagar, Nov 23 (UNI) 'Suryakiran', the aerobatic team of Indian Air Force (IAF) will be performing an display sequence and formation flying over Indira Gandhi Park here on Saturday.

The team which had been upgraded to a nine aircraft status, had displayed for the first time a formation of nine aircrafts during the Independence Day fly past over Red Fort in 1998, IAF sources said.

The show aims to build confidence and motivate the Indian youth to join the Air force, sources added.

The team had performed such aerobatic display in various parts of the country besides at Singapore and Bangkok.

The team flies an indigenous aircraft, Kiran MK-II, used by the IAF to train its fighter pilots in basic fighter and weapon delivery.

Pilots were selected twice a year for a three year tour of duty, from the IAF fighter branch, sources added.
