Administrator appointed for BMP

Bangalore, Nov 23 (UNI) The Karnataka Government today appointed senior IAS official Dilip Rao as the Administrator of the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) as the term of the Mayoral Council comes to an end tonight.

The elections for BMP had been postponed following the Government's decision to form Greater Bangalore area, under which seven city councils and 111 village panchayats surrounding the city, would be merged with the BMP.

Mr Rao was the Principal Secretary of Department of Energy and he would be holding additional chrage as the BMP Administrator.
