603 Km of National Highway in North East approved

New Delhi, Nov 23 (UNI) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved 603 Km of national highways under the North East Accelerated Road Development Programme.

Of these, 315 Km lies in Assam, 112 Km in Meghalaya, 81 Km in Nagaland and 95 Km in Sikkim, Finance Minister P Chidambaram told reporters after the CCEA meeting.

Originally begun on the Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) toll basis, but when no bids came for the Meghalaya sction, it was transferred to BOT annuity basis.
