6 arrested for murder of youth, girl

Kolhapur, Nov 23 (UNI) The city police has arrested six persons in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old youth and a 20-year-old girl.

District superintendent of police Sukhwinder Singh, while talking to mediapersons, claimed that the six had confessed to the crime.

Amit Ashwin Kurva and Sweta Shirish Tavar, both hailing from neibhouring Sangli district, had gone missing since November 1.

The highly-decomposed bodies of the victims were found separately later from the Ramling Hill locality in Hatkanangale taluka of this district.

The body of the youth was found on November 9 while that of the girl was found on November 13. The bodies were identified by the parents of the victims.

The arrested have been identified as Shantinath Mandle (22), Dadu Malame (20), Jagannath Mandle (18), Umesh Mandle (20), Netaji Budhwale (20), and Gajanan Shirtode (22).
