Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, Nov 22 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today said Universities and other educational institutions had responsibility to produce not only learned graduates but also human beings with great value systems, drawn from Indian civilization and heritage.

Addressing the convocation ceremony at Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL), in the presence of Sri Satya Sai Baba and Vice-Chancellor A V Gokak, he said ''today people think that spirituality has no relationship to mundane life. But this is a big mistake. True divinity is a combination of spirituality and social obligations. National unity and social harmony are founded on spirituality.'' Noting that every year, three million students were graduating from 300 Universities in India, Dr Kalam advised the students to look at pain and suffering of the people around and try to perform their social responsibility.

Appreciating the facilities available at the institute, he said the facilities should be utilised for providing courses to the students in the emerging field of 'Convergence of Technologies'.

'' Now nano-technology is knocking at our doors. It is the field of the future that will replace micro-electronics,'' the President added.
