Tata Tea explores opportunities in branded tea segment

Kolkata, Nov 22 (UNI) Leading tea company Tata Tea Ltd is looking at growth opportunities in the branded tea segment by offering variants of products to its customers.

The company today launched four variants - Darjeeling, Assam, Nilgiri and Ceylon - of single origin leaf tea under the Tata Tea Gold brand.

" Our foray into single origin leaf tea is in line with the company's efforts at offering newer and better innovations for its consumers, " Tata Tea's executive director-marketing Sangeeta Talwar told reporters here.

Currently, Tata Tea has a 1.6 per cent market share and is growing at 18 per cent.

The company also launched the "Tetley Green Tea" in the Indian market.

"It will create a unique wellbeing segment in the branded tea category in India," she said.

Tata Tea's branded business is growing by 8-9 per cent, she said.

She said the company having presence in black tea is looking at growth opportunities in speciality green tea and ready to drink segment.
