Solatium for slain village chief's family

Chennai, Nov 22 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced solatium of Rs two lakh to the family of Sakkan (40) alias Sakkaiah, the Dalit Panchayat President murdered at Nakkalamuthampatti in Tirunelveli district this morning.

Mr Karunanidhi expressed profound grief and anguish over the murder of Sakkaiah, who was elected village panchayat president in the recent local body elections. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, an official release here said.

He sanctioned the solatium from the Chief Minister's General Relief Fund, the release added.
