Singapore businessman held in heroin seize

Ajmer, Nov 22: The police have arrested one Singapore-based businessman along with seven others, including two women, in connection with two kg seizure of heroin by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

According to Bureau officials, the arrested people have connections with international drug smugglers. The heroin had come from Thiruvananthapuram and was supposed to reach Singapore through the Maldives. Its cost in the international market would amount to Rs two crore.

Yesterday, a team of NCB nabbed Liyakat Khan and Rameshwar Sharma near Byavar police station with two kg of heroin.

After interrogating them, the police arrested Singapore-based businessman Zakir Hussain from Hotel Sagar Place in the dargah locality and two women Santhamba and Kumari Ranjana. The heroin was supposed to be delivered to them.

The Bureau officials also arrested Siraj Mansoori and his son Farooq. The heroin was apparently bought from these two people for Rs six lakh. The Bureau officials produced them in a court in Byavar where they have been kept in judicial custody till December 6. The other arrested are being taken to Jodhpur, where they will be interrogated further .
