Siemens bags Rs 4,000 cr contract in Qatar

Mumbai, Nov 22: Power equipments major Siemens today announced that it along with Siemens AG, Germany has bagged their largest ever contract of Rs 4,000 crore from Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation in the power transmission and distribution segment.

Under the mega contract, the consortium will supply 25 new sub-stations of different capacities and renovate ten sub-stations in Qatar, Siemens informed the BSE.

The company said this was a repeat order from the Qatari company, adding it had bagged two contracts worth Rs 2,600 crore from the same company in the last financial year.

Siemens said all sub-stations would be installed with cutting-edge electrical power equipments and automation systems, adding these stations will be unmanned and controlled by the central load dispatch centre. This fast track project is slated to be completed in 22 months, the company said in a statement, adding the value of its share in the contract is Rs 3,600 crore.

Siemens MD J Schubert said this largest export order highlights the inherent strengths and capabilities of Siemens India and takes us into the global league as a strong and established player in the area of power transmission and distribution.
