Rupee opens higher by six paise at 44.80/82
Mumbai, Nov 22 (UNI) The rupee today opened higher by six paise and was quoted at Rs 44.80/82 per US dollar as compared to it's previous close of Rs 44.86/87 per US dollar, due to fresh selling pressure of the dollar resorted to by bankers, traders said.
Later, the domestic currency plunged to Rs 44.90/92 per USD on account of short-covering by local dealers, and is now trading higher by ten paise, at Rs 44.75/76 per USD from it's previous close, due to increased selling of the dollar by foreign and nationalised banks, traders added.
