Narkanda, Kufri have first snowfall of season
Shimla, Nov 22 (UNI) The famous tourist resorts of Narkanda and Kufri experienced the first snowfall of the season, even as icy cold winds swept across Himachal Pradesh causing a further drop in the temperature.
Light to Moderate snowfall was reported from the higher reaches of the hill state including the Rohtang Pass while the lower reaches had light to moderate rain.
A met report here said that Narkanda had 2-3 inches of snow last night, while snow flakes were sighted at Kufri. Snow flakes were also reported from Jakhoo peak the highest point of Shimla.
Two other resorts-Kullu and Manali experienced light to moderate rainfall last night, while Rohtang Pass had 4-5 inches snow. Kalpa where the temperature fell to -1.4 degrees celsius recorded one cm of snow. Moderate snowfall was also reported from the tribal districts of Kinnaur, Lahaul and Spiti and Bharmour in Chamba district and Dodra Kawar area bordering Uttranchal.
The minimum temperature in Shimla further diped and was recorded at 4.2 degrees, while the minimum at Bhuntar was 5.0 degrees and at Sundernagar it was slightly higher at 10.6 degrees.
The met office has predicted snowfall in the higher reaches and rain in the lower regions of the state in the next 24 hours.
