MoU between SLU and SLS for innovative edu programmes
Tirupati, Nov 22 (UNI) A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed here today between Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) and Tirupati-based Sugen Life Sciences (SLS) for developing innovative educational programmes and research activities pertaining to life sciences, inter disciplinary studies and other related fields.
The MoU was exchanged by SLS Chief Mentor C D Reddy and University Registrar Kalyan Mohan Rao in the presence of SVU Vice-Chancellor S Jayarama Reddy.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr C D Reddy stressed the need for higher GDP growth in the country.
He said this was the first MoU with the University. Pharma sectors were playing a major role in global economy and it was necessary to develop infrastructure in the country to meet global competition, he added.
The SLS, a Contract Research Organization (CRO) and SVU would jointly promote programmes in joint education, training and research activities with various departments, including exchange of scholars, interactions and research, Dr Jayaram Reddy said.
Besides organising conferences, symposiums and seminars, he said they would share the resources available on mutual understanding.
SLS Senior Scientist Koti Reddy said SLS was currently engaged in research and developmental programms of plant-based products for cancer, arthritis, inflammation, wound healing and diabetes.
