MCD committee to probe suicide of exec engg, decide compensation

New Delhi, Nov 22 (UNI) The Standing Committee of the MCD today set up a Committee to probe the cause of the suicide of suspended Executive Engineer Naresh Gupta, who had ended his life last month following suspension.

This was announced by Chairman Jai kishen Sharma at a meeting of the Standing Committee.

The three-member committee, which comprises Leader of the House Jitender Kochar, Councillor Brij Mohan Sharma and Standing Committee member Vijender Gupta, will probe the causes of Gupta's suspension as well as decide on the quantum and the nature of compensation to be given to his family.

The committee was formed even as Commisioner A K Nigam said appointing a committee in the matter would not be advisable as the matter was sub judice.

The committee has been asked to submit its report in ten days.

Naresh Gupta had committed suicide last month, following his suspension for involvement in unauthorised constructions.
