Mysore, Nov 22 (UNI) Karnataka units of CPI, CPM, Sarvodaya Karnataka and Karnataka Rajya Ritha Sangha(KRRS) parties today extended support to former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of the Congress in the December 4 by-elections to the Chamundeswari Assembly constituency.

Addressing a joint press conference CPI state Secretary Siddana Gowda Patil, CPM state Secretary Nagaraj, Sarvodaya Karnataka President Devanaru Mahadev and KRRS President K S Putianiah said that they wanted to defeat the common candidate put up by the ruling JD(S)-BJP combine, which they alleged was anti farmers and anti secular.

Mr Mahadev said the Janata Dal(S) which claimes to be secular had joined hands with the communal BJP only to remain in power and betrayed the people of the state who had elected them.

Mr Nagaraj said his party had always been against the communal parties and it was unfortunate that the so called secular party Janata Dal(S) joined the government to share the power and not on their policies and programmes.

Mr Puttaniah described the by-election are held on a revange politics by the Janata Dal(S) against one individual and entire government involved for a single by-election and neglected the development works and not able to hear the farmers voices and their problems.

Mr Patil alleged that the Janata Dal(S) was trying to influence the voters on caste basis.

They said the combined efforts would be made to defeat the common candidates of Janata Dal(S) and BJP in the elections. They would not join the Congress party in the elections, however, worked out separate strategies to take up the election campaign in the consituency. The main aim was to support the Siddaramiah, who has been fighting for justice of the backward classes and others, they added.
