Kumaraswamy announces Rs 3 cr grant for Haj House
Bangalore, Nov 22 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today announced a grant of Rs three crore for the construction of Haj House at Hennur here.
Speaking at a function, organised to inaugurate Haj flights here, he said five acres of land had been provided for construction of Haj House and the foundation stone for it would be laid shortly.
Mr Kumaraswamy said that though the project was sanctioned by his father and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda in 1996 itself, it was kept in cold storage. When he learnt about it, he immediately sanctioned the amount, he added.
He said piligrimage was a must for all people, irrespective of their religion, as it helped in building harmony in the society.
Earlier, the Chief Minister distributed passports to the first batch of 520 Haj pilgrims, who left for Medina today.
