HC orders CBI probe into milkman's missing

Kolkata, Nov 22 (UNI) A two-judge bench of the Calcutta High Court today ordered a CBI inquiry into the missing of a milkman in Howrah district.

The bench comprising D P Sengupta and Justice R N Banerjee passed the order on a petition filed by the milkman's son, who alleged that the police was not investigating properly into his father's case.

The milkman, Lalan Chowdhary (60) went missing in February after the police asked him to come to the police station.

Soon after this his son Raj Nandan filed a missing diary with the police and then moved the district court seeking an inquiry into the case.

The District Judge asked the Police Superintendent to file a report before the court immediately after the investigation of the case.

The police had submitted the report after three months saying Lalan was an informer of the police and disappeared on his own.

However, his son was not satisfied with the report amd moved the High Court asking for a CBI probe into the matter.
