HC declares AUSU president poll invalid; orders fresh poll
Allahabad, Nov 22 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today declared the election for the post of Allahabad University Students Union (AUSU) president as invalid.
The court also declared the election of Ajeet Kumar Yadav as AUSU president invalid, and therefore directed fresh election.
Justice S N Srivastava passed this order on a writ petition filed by Raghunath Dwivedi, a student leader of AU, who had also contested the AUSU poll for the president's post on November 24, 2005.
Declaring the election of Mr Yadav as invalid, the court held he was wholly incompetent to participate in AUSU poll.
The court also quashed the Allahabad University Election Tribunal order on the ground it was passed without considering the aspect, whether the AUSU president was a bona fide student of AU.
In its April 30, 2005 order, the Tribunal had observed so far as genuineness of the AUSU president's admission in AU was concerned, the inquiry committee will decide the same.
