Federation members tonsure heads to press demands

Puducherry, Nov 22: Members of the Federation of Garbage Cleaning Workers of the Ozhukarai municipality resorted to a novel agitation to press their demands.

The protesters tonsured their heads and sought alms in front of the office of the Director, Local Administration department.

They were demanding, among other things, fixation of basic salary at Rs 3,050, provision of employment on compassionate grounds and time-bound promotions.
