Facile win for Hyderabad, TN, AP draw ties

Margao, Nov 22 (UNI) Tamil Nadu and Andra Pradesh had to be content with two points each on the verge of their first inning lead over Goa and Karnataka respectively as both the matches of the south Zone under- 15 Polly Umrigar Trophy Cricket Tournament played here in Goa ended in tame draws.

Earlier, Hyderabad defeated Kerala by inning and 39 runs with bonus point also played at Margao.

At the end of the fourth round, Karnataka maintained their lead at the top of the table with 13 points, followed by Hyderabad with 11 points, Andhra Pradesh 10, Tamil Nadu (4), Goa (2) and Kerala (0).

In the second match, Goa resuming at the overnight score of 97 for four in the first innings fell to the guiles of off Spinner Aushik Srinivas (5 for 43) as he bowled with lot of fire and skittled out host Goa for a paltry 191 in 176.3 overs at the end of the 14.3 mandatory overs in reply to Tamil Nadu's 309 for nine declared yesterday and gained first innings lead of 118 runs.

Host Rohit Naik's 73 off 455 balls brought some respectability to their total in an otherwise poor show by Goa boatsmen.

Tamil Nadu's R Sarvan Kumar two for 34 and Vignesh Mohan's two for 33 ably supported Aushik in the demolition act.

In the third match of the day, Andhra Pradesh resuming at the overnight score of 261 for three and amassed 419 for eight declared in 163.1 overs in reply to Karnataka's 289 all out after lunch with valuable contribution from Ahmed Bhasha 91, G Chiranjivi 51, Mehaboob Bhasha 57 and gained a first inning lead of 130 runs.

Bharat Kondaji three for 100 and Suhil Summit two for 80 bowled well for Karnataka.

Karnataka in the their second inning were 48 for two in 25 overs at the close of third'day's.

Score in brief: Tamilandu: 309 for 9 declared.

Goa: 191 all out Rohit Naik 73, Gaurav Desai 18, Damodar Pockle 18, Rudresh Asgaokar not out 12.

Aushik Srinivas 5 for 43, R Sarvan Kumar 2 for 34, Vignesh Mohan 2 for 33.

Karnataka: 289 Andra Pradesh: 419 for 8 declared Ahmed Bhasha 91, G Chiranjivi 51, Mehaboob Bhasha 57.

Bharat Kondaji 3 for 100, Suhil Summit 2 for 80.

Karnataka: 2nd inning: 48 for 2 in 25 overs Karun Nair 21, Dinesh Borvankar not out 6, Shishir not out 11.

Mehabbob 2 for 12.
