Court orders for security cover to witness

Patna, Nov 22 (UNI) Patna High Court today directed the Police Superintendent of Saran to ensure fool proof security cover to a witness of a murder case pending against the JD(U) MP Prabhunath Singh and adjourned the hearing in this connection till December 5.

Hearing a writ filed by the son of witness Lalmuni Devi, a division bench comprising Justice Aftab Alam and Justice Samrendra Pratap Singh also directed the state police to send Lalmuni Devi in security cover to her residence in Chapra.

Earlier she was staying in guest house of Patna High court and had recorded her statement before a magistrate well versed in Bhojpuri as per the directive of the court on December 20.

Additional Advocate General informed the court that Saran range DIG had submitted the report to ADG D N Gautam yesterday and he could not be contacted as he was away from Patna. Mr Gautam was to file a supervision report of Saran DIG in connection with the case today.

Lalmuni Devi, a murder case pending against Mr Prabhnath Singh in Bhagalpur court, was allegedly kidnapped and was later released by his supporters from Panapur police station area in Saran district in October last.
