Congress to organise law violation programme

Kolkata, Nov 22 (UNI) West Bengal Congress today organised law violation programme demanding resignation of state Health Minister Surjya Kanta Mishra for the death of 17 children and blood kit scam and protesting the acquisition of fertile land for setting up industry in Singur.

Addressing the party workers here, former state Congress president Somen Mitra said, ''Earlier we have demanded the resignation of Mr Mishra for the recent death of 17 children at B C Roy Child hospital and blood kit scam. But the state government has not taken any action in this regard.'' ''We can't understand why Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee does not remove the Health Minister,'' Mr Mitra wondered.

He also said before the Assembly election the Left Front's slogan was ''agriculture is our base and industry is our future'' but on the contrary they were ''snatching away'' the farmer's land in the name of industry.

'' We do want industry in the state, but not at the cost of fertile land. Industrialisation also took place in the Congress regime, but not by acquiring agriculture land,'' he said.
