Cong alleges violation of model code of conduct

Jaipur, Nov 22: The Congress charged the state government with violating the model code of conduct by transferring senior police officials in Dungarpur district after the announcement of by-elections there.

Senior Congress leaders Jakhiya Imam and Youth Congress leader Sunil Lodha, while seeking the intervention of the Election Commission on the issue, strongly condemned the transfer of Additional Superintendent of Police of Dungarpur district to Banswara after the model code of conduct came into force.

They alleged that due to the infighting in the state, BJP, the faction supporting the Chief Minister, had taken the by-election as a prestige issue and were misusing the official machinery to win the poll by all means.
