Buying helmet compulsory with purchase of two-wheeler

Bhopal, Nov 22 (UNI) In a bid to encourage use of helmets with a view to ensure safety of two-wheeler riders, purchase of helmet has been made compulsory while buying a two-wheeler.

Issuing the directives, the state government asked vehicle distributors to sell ISI-marked helmet along with a two-wheeler.

The decision has been taken under the amendment made in the Central Motor Vehicle Act, an official release here said today.

However, women, members of Sikh community and children up to 12 years of age were exempted from the new system, the release added.
