Bullets from baggage of airpassenger seized

Chennai, Nov 22: The airport authorities seized five .22 live bullets meant for hunting birds from an Oman bound passenger at the Anna International Airport here today.

When questioned about the bullets, the passenger said as the civil aviation rules at Oman allow air-travellers to carry such bullets meant for bird hunting, he had brought them and showed his gun licence to the security personnel.

The security authorities informed the passenger that as per Indian Civil Aviation rules, carrying of arms and ammunitions were banned during air-travel and seized the bullets.

After obtaining an undertaking from Abdullah, the authorities allowed him to board the plane. The flight left for its destination after a delay of 15 minutes, the sources added.
