BJP rally clogs roads in Central Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 22 (UNI) BJP's national 'Suraksha Sankalp' rally, coinciding with the opening day of the winter session of Parliament, today threw traffic in the city out of gear.

Lakhs of partyworkers from Delhi and the neighbouring states converged on the national capital this morning to 'gherao' Parliament. Former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani led a march from Rajghat while BJP President Rajnath Singh led one from Birla Mandir.

The protestors met at Jantar Mantar where senior party leaders including former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vaypayee addressed a huge rally, which extended from Parliament Street Police Station almost upto Connaught Place.

There were traffic jams on Raj Ghat, JP Marg, Delhi Gate, Subhas Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Barakhamba Road, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Janpath, Ashoka Road, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Gole Dak Khana, Mandir Marg and Park Street since about 1130 hrs.

This was second day the city witnessed traffic chaos. India International Trade Fair and security arrangements for Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to various places including Raj Ghat were said to be responsible for yesterday's jams.
