Bihar vigilance arrests 4 officers for taking bribe
Patna, Nov 22 (UNI) The Bihar Vigilance Bureau today arrested a civil surgeon, sub-inspector, junior engineer and a head-clerk while they were accepting bribe in different parts of the state.
ADG Vigilance Neelmani here said the civil surgeon of Saharsa, Jamaluddin, was arrested while he was taking Rs 20000 bribe from a person to clear his pending bills.
Later in a raid, the vigilance sleuths recovered Rs 80000 cash from the civil surgeon's residence, Mr Neelamani said.
They also traced National Saving Certificates worth Rs five lakhs, documents related to investment of about Rs ten lakh in a private company and Rs 30 lakh in 17 separate bank accounts of the surgeon.
Mr Neelamani further said a sub-inspector at Rupsapur police station in Patna district was nabbed while taking Rs 1500.
Another Junior Engineer (electricity department) at Bhojpur and a head clerk of the same department were also caught redhanded when they were receiving Rs 2300 as bribe a person for giving electricity connection to the latter.
All the arrested ones were brought here for interrogation and would be produced before the special vigilance court.
