5 day Bharat Nirman campaign from Nov 2 at Sikkim
Gangtok, Nov 22 (UNI) A five-day Bharat Nirman campaign, a public information campaign to educate the people about the Centre's various flagship programmes is scheduled to be launched here from November 24 to 28.
The campaign is being organised by Sikkim PIB, Doordarshan, All India Radio, Directorate of Field Publicity, Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity along with Song and Drama division.
State and North Bengal Director of Field Publicity C K Dorjee told newsmen here that for the first time the campaign is being organised in the state.
The objective of the campaign is mainly to sensitise the rural people about various programmes of the Centre.
The campaign would disseminate information on Bharat Nirman Package, National Rural Employment Gurantee Act, National Rural Health Mission, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, Mid-Day meal, Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, Right to Information Act and Prime Minister's 15 points programmes for the welfare of minorities.
Mr Dorjee said some states were trying to mislead the people by claiming the Centre's programmes as their own and this campaign would help in eradicating this misconception from the people's mind.
He said a technical session on the flagship programmes invloving implementing state authorities, experts, beneficiaries, NGOs and local media would be organised on each day.
Exhibitions on 'Resurgent India' depicting the progress of the country since 1950, film shows, cultural programmes, group discussions, seminars and healthy baby show would be organised during the campaign.
A massive rally would also be organised here on November 24.
Central and State government departments, Public Sector Banks, Para military forces, self help groups, NGOs will put up 15 stalls to educate the people about their activities, sources said.
Around 300 people are expected participate in the programme.
Governor V.Rama Rao would inaugurate the function.
