176 units in Najafgarh sealed

New Delhi, Nov 22 (UNI) A Bajaj and TVS Showroom on the Najafgarh-Nangloi road were sealed scanner as the Municipal corporation of Delhi today put 176 units in Najafgarh zone to seal even as traders in Delhi demanded the Union Government provide a permanent solution to this grave problem in current session of Parliament which began in the day.

With today's sealing operation, a total number of 1442 units have been sealed since the drive resumed on November 8.

Meanwhile, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), which is in forefront of the traders agitation against sealing, today strongly refuted Government's claims of providing relief to majority of traders from sealing in Delhi.

In a statement issued here, CAIT secretary general Praveen Khandelwal said about six lakh business establishments in Delhi are still under the threat of sealing.

He said there are about seven lakh business establishments in Delhi out of which about two lakh fall on 2183 roads notified by the Government but only about one lakh business establishments are getting interim relief from the Court or Government whereas about one lakh business establishments on notified roads are out of purview of interim relief since they are operating commercial activities either in basements or on upper floors of buildings situated on mixed land use road or are working in Flats.

Mr Khandelwal said the CAIT delegations will soon meet MPs of different states and will submit memorandums.

The trade leaders regretted that even as the current session has began, the Government has so far not declared anything about carrying amendment whereas daily sealing is being carried in various parts of Delhi which is ultimately sealing the future of traders, employees and their families.

They also demanded that sealed shops be de-sealed and in order to bring a permanent solution, the Government must implement Master Plan 2021 and all concerned sections including traders should be consulted.
