Shastri instructs MCD, NDMC to make action plan for 2007

New Delhi, Nov 21 (UNI) Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri today instructed the MCD and NDMC to make an action plan for next year to take preventive measures for water-borne diseases.

''A planned strategy is required to fight against diseases like cholera, jaundice, malaria and dengue... Health and sanitation is our main concern,'' Dr Shastri said after chairing a meeting on water borne diseases.

The Health Minister directed health officials to make a core group to discuss issues related to public health and sanitation in the capital.

''The Health services department, MCD and NDMC will work in close co-ordination,'' he added Meanwhile, the total number of dengue cases now stands at 3,240 in the capital of which 1935 are from Delhi. During the last 24 hrs only four cases of dengue have been reported.
