Scope increases Chennai headcount to 5,000
Chennai, Nov 21 (UNI) Scope International, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Standard Chartered Bank, has increased its headcount to 5,000 in Chennai centres - ten per cent of the Group's global workforce.
The company, which started banking operations and finance services in 2001 with about 35 people, had now ventured into seven different business verticals including HR services, software development, technology support, legal and compliance control and contact centre.
Elaborating on Scope's growth over the last five years, Company Group Head-Global Shared Services Centres Sreeram Iyer said Scope International had now spread across five locations in the city, comprising about 800,000 sqft at an investment of USD 120 million.
The fifth facility, coming up at Karapakkam with capacity for 1,000 seats, would be operational in early 2007, he said.
Stating that Scope continued to support the operations of Standard Chartered globally, he said the company had matured from basic transaction processing to credit underwriting and trade documentation. The growth reflected more automation, productivity and process efficiency, he said.
Mr Iyer said the company's performance would focus on cost saves, quality of service and process efficiency.
The value of work being carried out in the Chennai centres was roughly USD 120 million per annum, he added.
