Sanskriti awards for poet Mitul Dutta

New Delhi, Nov 21 (UNI) Eminent Bengali poetess Mitul Dutta, playwright Girish Karnad and performing artist Ramanjir Kaur were today presented with the Sanskriti awards for their excellence in their respective fields.

Others who received the awards, presented at a function in the capital this evening, were Sachin K Jain for journalism, A Balasubramaniam for Art and Farhad Contractor for outstanding social acheivements.

The awards, conducted under the auspices of the Sanskriti Pratisthan that aims to foster and preserve the cultural heritage of our country, are presented every year to young and emerging talent in the age group of 25 to 35 years.

The awardees in each category are chosen by experts in their respective fields.

Each award carries a cash prize of Rs 25000 and a citation.
