Railway revenue earnings up 22.08 per cent

New Delhi, Nov 21: The Railways earned Rs 1706.88 crore during November 1-10 as compared to Rs 1398.12 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 22.08 per cent.

The total freight earnings went up to Rs 1104.95 crore from Rs 930.42 crore during the period last year, showing an increase of 18.76 per cent.

The passenger revenue earnings during the period were Rs 524.15 crore as compared to Rs 423.32 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 23.82 per cent.

The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 63.26 crore during this period compared to Rs 30.84 crore during the corresponding period last year, an increase of 105.12 per cent.

The sundry earnings were pegged at Rs 14.52 crore as compared to Rs 13.54 crore, showing an increase of 7.24 per cent.

The total near about number of passengers booked during November 1-10 this year stood at 189.49 million compared to 165.78 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 14.30 per cent.

In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during the period this year were 108.20 million and 81.29 million as compared to 94.50 million and 71.28 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 14.50 per cent and 14.04 per cent respectively.
