Patiala, Nov 21 (UNI) Punjab piled-up a huge total of 359 for three in 94 overs against a mediocre Himachal Pradesh bowling attack on the first day of Polly Umrigar Trophy (Under-15) at the Dhruve Pandove Cricket Stadium here today.

Himachal won the toss and elected to field on a perfect batting wicket which proved to be the decision wrong.

Ankit Pursharthy scored a stylish century to put Punjab in the driver's seat. He hit 9 boundaries in scoring 112 off 226 balls.

Arjun Kumar too scored freely to notch up 89 and was unlucky to miss a ton. His knock was studded with 10 fours.

Karanpreet was the other batsman to contribute scoring 45 with the help of five boundaries.

At close of play, the hosts skipper, Mandeep Singh was batting on 57 and keeping him company was Vishal Thind on 26.

For Himachal Pradesh, Ankush Bedi, Nikhil and Ashish bagged a wicket each without making any significant impression on the batsmen.
