Peon gets 13 years RI for stolen money
Thrissur, Kerala, Nov 21 (UNI) Vigilance Judge P Q Berkathali today sentenced a man to 13 years rigorous imprisonment and ordered him to pay a fine of Rs 75,000 for having stolen money from the Pazhoor Sub Registrar office.
According to the prosecution here, the accused Ramakrishna Pillai, a native of Poonkunnam, had stolen Rs 8,000 from the Pazhoor Sub Registrar Office while working as a peon in 1992, from the money given for remitting in the government treasury.
However, he has to undergo only four years imprisonment as the punishment was awarded under various sections.
