Pankaj Advani bag PSPB top honour
New Delhi, Nov 21 (UNI) It was a double delight for ace cueist Pankaj Advani, who bagged two Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) Sportsperson of the Year awards here today.
The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awardee was declared joint winner of the Sportsperson of the Year 2004-5 along with top paddler Achanta Sharath Kamal and was also declared winner of the 2005-06 award.
As many as 122 outstanding sportspersons were honoured in the sixth edition of the annual PSPB awards function with Petroleum Minister Murli Deora giving away the prizes.
Former athlete BS Barua got the Life Time Achievement award.
In the Elite Sportspersdons of the Year category, 2004-05 winners were Aparna Popat (badminton), Vishal Uppal (tennis) and K Sasikiran while Anuja Thakur (billiards and snooker), Saina Nehwal (badminton), Sharath Kamal (table tennis) and Wasim Jaffer (cricketer) bagged the 2005-6 awards.
