Aizawl, Nov 21 (UNI) The Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has demanded resignation of agriculture minister H Rammawi over misutilisation of famine combat funds under the Bamboo Flowering and Famine Combat Scheme (Baffacos).

Talking to newsmen here yesterday, Congress legislator Zodintluanga alleged that the agriculture minister had mislead the state by saying that no funds under Baffacos had been utilised so far to purchase rat-traps.

''Rammawi had said in September that he received Rs 2 crore from the agriculture department under Baffacos in 2005 of which Rs 30.41 lakh has been utilised for purchasing rodenticides and traps.'' Mr Zodintluanga said.

In a recent report by the People's Right to Information and state Development Implementing Society, the agriculture department had mentioned that funds from Baffacos were utilised during 2004-05 and 2005-06 for purchasing rat traps, poison and to carry out a survey on the rat menace, he said, terming the information given out by the state agriculture department as erroneous.
