Mizo to prepare blue-print for industrial growth

Aizawl, Nov 21: The Mizoram government has planned to prepare a blue print -- 'Industry vision 2010' -- for industrial development of the state.

Directorate of Industries has already started chalking out various strategies to give final shape to the 'Industry Vision 2010' for industrial development of the region, Director of Industries Yogaraja told UNI.

''We are also identifying the difficulties hindering industrial growth. We will draft a comprehensive plan for the entrepreneurs in next four years,'' he said.

Mr Yogaraja has also pointed out that during the current fiscal, eight bamboo industries would be set up across the state at a cost of Rs 700 lakh and several units for handloom and handicrafts have also been planned.

He said, ''As many as 8,000 local youths across the state would be benefitted if this project takes off.'' Upgradation of Zungtui industrial estate under industrial infrastructure upgradation scheme involving Rs 50 crore is also contemplated, he added.

Establishment of an Export Promotion Industrial Park at Bairabi,Champahai and Tlabung, besides setting up of district industry centres are also in the pipeline, he observed.

Mr Yogaraja also said the department would continue giving financial support to handloom and handicraft units as well as small time artisans.

Fairs and exhibitions would be organised within the state.

Besides, the state would also participate in India International Trade Fair and Northeast Expo, he added.

New avenues are also been explored for providing better road connectivity, sewerage and waste disposal system to industrial growth centres through Asian Development Bank (ADB) loan, he said.
