Mizoram NGOs concerned for funds pilferation

Aizawl, Nov 21 (UNI) The Young Mizo Association (YMA) and Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) have expressed serious concern over the pilferage of government funds by the state Public Health Engineering department.

In a joint statement, both the NGOs accused rpt accused the department of misusing Rs 38.75 lakh under the Swajal Dhara Scheme, meant for the construction of water reservoirs at Phulpui and Sumsuih villages near here.

It also stated that due to this mis-management and non-furnishing of utilisation certificate, the Centre had stopped fresh allocations this year, which affected the water supply in the state.

The organisations have demanded an immediate probe into the matter and threatened to launch vigorous movement against the state government.
