MiG 29 crashes near Jamnagar air base, pilot safe

New Delhi, Nov 21 (UNI) A Mig-29 fighter of the Indian Air Force crashed near the Jamnagar Airbase this evening, but the pilot managed to eject and is safe.

''A Mig-29 crashed near Jamnagar airbase immediately after take off, at around 1945 hrs this evening,'' IAF spokesman Wing Cdr Mahesh Upasani told UNI.

However, the pilot, Flt Lt Krishan Kant managed to eject safely, he added.

A court of Inquiry has been set up.

Earlier reports from Ahmedabad had said the fate of the pilot was not known as it was dark. A search party has also reached the crash site.
