New Delhi, Nov 21 (UNI) A day ahead of the Winter Session of Parliament, the Mahila Congress today took out a rally to mobilise support for the Women's Reservation Bill and submitted a memorandum to Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee.

''The inordinate delay in the passage of the 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament is causing loss of trust in the promises made by political parties,'' Mahila Congress President Rita Bahuguna Joshi said.

She said women were being denied political space despite the the Constitution providing for such legislation.

''Pakistan , Nepal and Bangladesh, which were inspired by India to adopt women's empowerment initiatives, have left it way behind in this area,'' she added.

Ms Joshi said some parties were trying to stall the Bill by forwarding impractical alternatives.

The Mahila Congress has demanded introduction and passage of the Bill in the Winter Session.
