Mah BJP president elections on Nov 24

Mumbai, Nov 21 (UNI) Election of the new Maharashtra BJP president will be held on November 24 during the state council convention in the metropolis, where senior party leader Venkaiah Naidu will be present as central observer.

A BJP release here today quoted party general secretary Vinod Tavade saying the meeting of the state executive committee would be held under the presidentship of Nitin Gadkari, who is heading the BJP state unit till November 23.

According to political observers, Mr Gadkari, who is completing one term is all set to get another term.

In the party's organisational elections, 41 district presidents out of 55 have been elected unopposed, while the remaining would be finalised in the coming days, the release added.

Mr Tavade said former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar would be the returning officer and the nominations for the presidentship will be filed on November 23 and its scrutiny will be done on November 24. The withdrawal of the nominations will be done till 1000 hrs on the same day and later voting would be done, if necessary.

Apart from the president, 48 members of the national council will be elected on the same day. The state council convention will be attended by nearly 600 delegates from all over the state.
