Magma acquires Knights Technology

Bangalore, Nov 21 (UNI) Magma Design Automation Inc, a provider of chip design solutions, has acquired Knights Technology from FEI Company.

A Magma release here today said Knights Technology was a provider of yield management and failure analysis software solutions to the semiconductor industry and its products, employees and management team would be part of Magma's Fab Analysis Business Unit.

The acquisition was expected to enable a tighter integration between Magma's design software and semiconductor manufacturing.

Magma planned to bring design intent into Knights' industry-leading CAD navigation tools, enabling product engineers to analyse manufactured ICs for both systematic and parametric defects.

Magma would also leverage Knight's yield management presence in the fab and partner with semiconductor manufacturers to calibrate Magma's process models for improved IC design implementation, the release said.

The terms of the transaction were not announced, but Magma expected sales of the Knights Technology products would contribute approximately US Dollar 1.5 million to Magma's total revenue for the reminder of the company's fiscal after purchase accounting adjustments, and that the transaction would be accretive immediately.
