Indian textile industry has great potential: Mecozzi

Mumbai, Nov 21 (UNI) The Indian textiles industry has great potential and can take up the Chinese challenge, according to Italian Trade Commissioner Vittorio Mecozzi.

Dr Mecozzi, along with Textile Committee chairperson Krishna Gehlawat and Textile Commissioner J N Singh, were addressing a press conference to brief on the outcome of a technological seminar on ''Italian Textile Machiney: A Leading Partner For The Success Of Indian Textile Industry'' held here today.

Dr Mecozzi pointed out that the Chinese textile and clothing exports have surged ever since that nation dismantled the quota system in early 2005.

The seminar, organised as pat of the Italian Festival, was organised by the Italian Trade Commission with support from the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers.
