Hyderabad takes 160-run lead over Kerala with Sandeep's ton

Margao, Nov 21 (UNI) A brilliant knock of 117 laced with sixteen fours by B Sandeep and a valuable 58 (10x4) by A Akash enabled Hyderabad score 294 all out in 86.3 overs in reply to Kerala's 134, and thus gained a 160-run first innings lead on the second day of their three-day South Zone Under-15 Polly Umrigar Trophy cricket tournament match being played here at the MCC ground today.

Kerala in their second outing were 80 for 4 in 40 overs at the close of play with C A Mathew (not out 23) and Manu Dev (not out 2) at the crease.

Earlier, Hyderabad, resuming at the overnight score of 95 for one, folded their first innings at 294, which saw a 107-run partership for the second wicket between B Sandeep( 117) and A Akash (58).

Jitin Ramchandra (4/42), Ashwin Sharma (3/103), and K J Sharath (3/33) were the most successful bowlers for Kerala.

In the second match at Arlem ground, Goa were 97 for 4 in 82.4 overs at the close of play in the first innings with Rohit Naik being the mainstay who remained unbeaten on 34. This was in reply to Tamil Nadu's 309 for 9 declared and Goa still need 212 run to equal the visitor's total.

Earlier, Tamil Nadu, resuming at the overnight score of 277 for 6 with R Rohit on 69 and R Ashish Kumar on 38, continued to move the score board and, after adding 32 runs to the overnight score, declared their first innings at 309 for 9 in 112 overs. Rohit's final tally read 82, while R Ashish scored 40, Aushik Srinivas remained not out on 11 and Vignesh Mohan remained unbeaten on 5.

Rudresh Asgaokar (3/53) and Damodar Pokle (2/31) were the most successful bowlers for hosts.

In the third match played at the Fatoda SAG ground, a fine century, that was studded with 15 hits to the fence by M U B Sriram, guided Andhra Pradesh pile up 261 for three in 101 overs at the close of play on the second day today in reply to Karnataka's 289 all out.

Sriram's 100 came off 193 balls and in 215 minutes. Andhra Pradesh still need 29 runs to gain a lead over Karnataka with seven wickets in hand.

Karnataka, resuming at the overnight score of 281 for 8, were all out for 289 in 113.2 overs addding only 8 runs to the overnight total.

L Rahul, who was batting on 100, could add only one more run to his total. Dinesh Barvankar scored 10, Aman Raj 17 and Arun Bhadari 10. S K Bhasha (5/111) and Raghav Preetam (3/45) were the most successful bowlers for Andhra Pradesh.

Tamil Nadu: 309 for 9 declared in 112 overs (R Rohit 82, R Ashish Kumar 40, Aushik Srinivas not out 11, Vignesh Mohan not out 5.
