Four children drown in Chandrapur

Nagpur, Nov 21 (UNI) Four of the total six children who had gone for a swim in the River Wardha at village Kolgaon near Ballarpur in Chandrapur district today, were feared drowned while two others rescued.

Superintendent of Police Ravindra Kadam said the children had gone for a picnic to Kolgaon. All of them entered the water for a swim, but a strong undercurrent swept them away. A farmer managed to save two of them.

The deceased were identified as Manoj Chavan, Jagdish Singh, Shekhar Kushwah and Hardip Singh, whose bodies have not been found till late tonight. Divers who were summoned from Chandrapur had to abandon the search as it grew dark. The search is expected to resume tomorrow morning, the SP said.
