Fire destroys godown storing tobacco

Vijayawada, Nov 21 (UNI) A godown storing tobacco was destroyed in a fire at Hanuman Junction in Krishna District today.

A Fire Department official told UNI here the fire was caused by the carelessness of a staff member who threw a burning cigarette butt after smoking.

The loss was estimated at about Rs 20 lakh. However there were no casualties, the official said.

Two fire tenders took three hours to control the fire, he said.
